[…] So, fourth place in the finals of the Canadian Blog Awards “Best Entertainment/Cultural Blog”…. […]
Shut.the.front.door.
I kinda feel like Mira Sorvino.
The next winner won’t be up until very late Eastern Standard Time (unless one of my co-Operators of the awards puts something up before I’m back from work).
Well, I was going to post some stats from Round 1 before bed, but WordPress is doing server maintenance. Sorry everyone, I’ll have something ready for Saturday afternoon instead.
May I make a suggestion?
– Decide on a realistic schedule of announcements that you can comfortably stick to – one that allows you ample time to process the material, even if its only one or two per day. – Publish that, and try to stick to it.
– Have a “coming up next” banner on your home page, with the time and name of the next announcement.
I love this format, and the guest presenters – excellent idea. But it’s not clear what’s being announced when; checking in, and not having anywhere to look for a “coming up next” announcement, is getting frustrating rather than suspenseful.
Good ideas Balbulican. I just wasn’t sure enough what schedule was attainable, and am waiting for a few more videos to shoot before I know if I should announce something or not.
Next in the queue is Best Religious Blog.
If stopping in periodically is a problem, might I suggest subscribing via RSS. The cool kids are doing it 🙂 so they are notified instantly of new results.
I’m not talking about the challenge of stopping in occasionally or setting up an RSS feed, Sask. I’m suggesting…just a suggestion…that structured anticipation can enhance pleasurable suspense, and add to an already excellent round of CBAs – but that apparently random announcements at irregular intervals tend to diminish the level of interest. Just a thought from an event management perspective.
I agree, I’m just not sure I have the resources or technologies to set up structured result releases. We can change methods. We could release videos later, but I thought it would make more sense to do them with the announcements, even if it means people don’t know what’s being published a day in advance.
Just put up 1 or 2 a day, Sask.. nothing too complicated about that.
Right!
… but do Sports and Progressive next!!!
A schedule is going up later tonight 🙂
[…] “exciting baseball game” is an oxymoron, like “WNBA highlights” or “cultural blog“. But those people haven’t been to a Blue Jays game at Rogers Centre – it’s […]
