Posts Tagged ‘Canadian Blog Awards’

We’re opening up nominations for the 2012 Canadian Blog Awards a little early this year, and we’re changing the format a bit.

In the past the biggest complaint has been that people somehow missed out on the nomination period. This year we’re extending the process, and we’re keeping all nominations in the comments below. You can help out by sharing the Awards on Facebook and by announcing the news however you can.

To nominate a blog for this year’s Awards simply leave a comment reply on this post. You must include the name of the blog and the link to the blog itself and the associated category (see below for a list). For example: “Bob Loblaw’s Law Blog – http://www.bobswebsite.com – Best Law Blog.” Each blog only needs one nomination to qualify and there’s no benefit for multiple nominations.

Blogs that are nominated by multiple categories will be placed into up to 2 categories by management.

Nominations will close in September so keep an eye out for updates about voting. You can ask any questions in the comments or find me @TOBusinessLaw. Don’t forget to list your blog at TopBlogs.ca.

Good luck to all!

- Jonathan Kleiman (@TOBusinessLaw / Small Claims Court Lawyer)

***UPDATE***

The Canadian blogosphere is vast and active… and a number of us have been working on a new project to help us connect and strengthen our community. It’s finally ready for us to play around with!

While the votes are underway, let’s all head over to the new Canadian Blogger Network. Think of it like our own private version of twitter for the Canadian Blogosphere, where we all can connect with one another and with our readers.

All old accounts and posts have been removed so If you helped me with beta testing, thanks, and, please sign up again.

Be one of the first to setup an account on the new network!

VOTING FOR THE CANADIAN BLOG AWARDS HAS BEGUN!

For this round, you can choose two blogs to vote for per section. The top 5 from each category will move on to the next round. For the categories that have under 5 entries, I’ve made it so that you can add a write-in.

Don’t just pick the only blog on the list that you read the most often. Take the time to look at all the blogs in a category, read a few posts, and make your decision carefully. Only the best should wear the crown(s).

Round 1 will end on October 17, 2010 at 12:00 noon.

The Polls are below. Please see the list below the polls to find the links to the actual blogs listed in the polls.

But First!

Since these awards tend to get thousands of hits per day at their peak, I decided to sell adspace to raise money for charity. Help raise money for Cancer research by buying adspace on the flyer-board below. Every penny collected will be immediately donated to the Canadian Cancer Society. These ads will remain at the top of the blog awards, in a sticky post, until the start of the 2011 Canadian Blog Awards in October, 2011. The cost is $20 per square. E-mail me at jkleiman [@] plzlaw [.] com to purchase an ad.

The time has finally come for nominations for the 2010 Canadian Blog Awards. We’re all really excited to get moving, and to see what new blogs come out this year. Nominations will end October 9th, leaving us an entire month to make sure that everybody gets to nominate who they want. Every year in the past there have been a number of blogs who miss the boat, so let’s all do our best to spread the word and nominate worthy blogs.

Use this form to nominate your favourite Canadian blog.

Hats off to the law firm at which I work, Porco Levy Zavet LLP (PLZ Law) for encouraging me to volunteer my free time to run this competition, and for understanding why I decided to disqualify their law blog ;) Check out their law news sharing website too.

If you have any questions or comments about the CBA’s, include them in the comments section of your nomination form. Remember, not everybody checks this page for updates, so remind your readers to nominate!

Thanks, and Good Luck!

Jonathan Kleiman

As selected by Canadian Blog Award voters, here are the rankings for:

Best Blog

Presenting the award for Best Canadian Blog of 2008 are Santa Claus (actually CBA Operator Saskboy dressed up, believe it or not) and Dani’s friendly Tim Horton’s employee from Ottawa:

We’ll be putting the results schedule into this post soon. No thanks to a cold virus, results haven’t come out as soon as the CBA Operators (not to mention the anxious finalists) would have all liked.

Tonight Saskboy will slog through his coughing, and post the results of the Best Sci/Tech Blog category. Why that category? Because he has the results in his hot little hands… and has to put them down soon so he can get some needed rest.

And here is the belated release schedule. We hope you’ll hang in there

The Next Round

As Autumn creeps up on Canadians, there are more bloggers asking if the CBAs will be running soon.
The answer is yes!

The Canadian Blog Awards 2008 will be arriving in November 2008, so hang onto your hats and we’ll get more details to you before that month is over.

You can contact NBCDipper, DaniGirl, or me (Saskboy) if you’d like to volunteer to organize and run the CBAs this year. Leaving a comment here is fine too.

We’re not taking nominations yet, we’ll let you know when.
